The U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning men who are taking Tadalafil to avoid a potential heart attack or stroke.
The warning comes after a woman was taking a placebo pill for the condition, known as Cialis.
The FDA said in a statement Thursday that it does not recommend using Cialis to treat erectile dysfunction.
The drug is known by the brand name Cialis.
Cialis is a prescription drug sold under the brand name Tadalafil. It is also known as the generic version of the drug.

The study involved more than 1,000 men in an 18-state study of men who had erectile dysfunction, who were prescribed Cialis to treat the condition. The study was published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.
In its analysis of the data, the researchers found that men who took Cialis for more than a year had a higher rate of sexual intercourse.
The researchers noted that some men had more than a year of sexual intercourse before their Cialis dose could be effective.
“This finding is important because it suggests that men who take tadalafil daily or as a treatment for erectile dysfunction may have a higher likelihood of developing sexual dysfunction,” the researchers wrote.
The study also said that men who take tadalafil for up to six months or more tend to have lower rates of sexual intercourse.
The FDA said it does not recommend men taking tadalafil for erectile dysfunction.
A spokeswoman for the FDA said it is not aware of any studies on tadalafil for erectile dysfunction.
